This beautiful hadith is from among the many very comprehensive narrations of our beloved ﷺ that shows us that Iman is not just restricted to beliefs but also our actions as well, such as purification, etc. It touches on the immense virtues of some of the most important deeds. It refers to purity, remembrance of Allah, prayer, charity, patience, abiding by the Quran, and the ultimate journey of mankind.

A few lessons we can take from this beautiful hadith are as follows:

1.  When we reflect on the deeds mentioned in this hadith, how easy it is to perform them, and how unimaginably great the rewards are, we should be reminded of how kind and merciful ALLAH (subhanahu wa ta’ala) is to HIS slaves. In that, He continually gives us so many opportunities to gain good deeds and to attain Jannah.

2.  When we realize how merciful Allah is in this regard, it should make us love Allah more and remember Him even more fervently, knowing that everything HE asks us to do or stay away from is only for our own good.

3.  We need to take account of how we spend our time every day. Ask yourself: Do I make my choices and actions based on what is pleasing to ALLAH, hence, freeing myself from HIS displeasure and the resultant pain and depression? Or do I make my decisions based on my desires, societal norms, and popular culture; hence destroying my soul and my relationship with my Creator?

4.  We need to nurture a beautiful relationship with the book of ALLAH (the Qur’an), by reciting it, reflecting on its message, acting upon it, and returning to it always for guidance in ALL our affairs. The one who does this will be successful and the one fails to do so will be at loss.
